Translation Louise Thunin
To the young man who has despaired for so long
that he is in despair,
the grandfather speaks about sparks of brotherhood
and murmurs of hope.
He adds:
believers speak of Jesus,
come to meet those who hope.
Did he look like a homeless God,
without a roof over his head, welcomed that day by
the poor of the country?
Did he look like a tired God, near a well,
talking to the foreign woman who had come
seeking living waters?
Did he look like a God
befriending evenings of grief,
come to the house to share a a meal?
He looked like nothing of a God.
He was everything of God.
