Andrée Chedid,
A salve of the future,hope,
Poetic anthropology.
Publisher: Gallimard, 2008
Translation Canon Tony Dickinson
I have anchored hope
at the roots of life.
In the face of darkness,
I have set up brightness,
planted torches,
at the border of night.
Brightness which persists,
torches which gleam
between shadows and barbarities.
Brightness which is re-born,
torches which are set up
without wasting away.
I am rooting hope
in the soil of the heart.
I am adopting all hope
in its rebellious spirit.
