translation canon Tony Dickinson
Tell them
what the wind tells the rocks
what the sea tells the cliffs
Tell them
that an immense goodness
makes us breathe more easily
Tell them
that God is not what we believe about God
nor what we say about God … very often.
God is like a wheaten loaf
God is a wine which we drink altogether
God is a shared banquet
each one gives and each receives
and, as a result of that, everything is changed
Tell them
God’s voice alone can teach me my name and
God’s Word alone reveal God’s name to us
Word of honour… secret happiness…
Oh yes! Tell them that!
But tell them too
That God is not only this
only what you can say about God
Tell them
that all things considered
even today you still do not know
ALL about him.
